Venus brighter than ever

Have any of you been looking out you room window thinking "wow thats an oddly bright star right there"!

Well ladies and guys that is no star, actually its Venus! Last weeks january 27th all the way through the 4th of february venus will be shining at a -4.1 magnitude, which means it is the brightest light in the night sky, even brighter than the moon! The moon of course seems brighter but that is simply because it is larger and much closer than Venus, in fact its 100 times closer than Venus. You will be able to see it some night susually all night and sometimes very early in the morning.

Some of my peers have been saying it jupiter, they may be wrong or just talking about a planet becasue the article that i read does say south west in probably in the U.S.

NASA Construction Begins On Atlantis

On january 18th a ground breaking ceremony took placeat the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, launching the new construction of the 65,000 square foot exhibit placed in the shuttle plaza of the Kennendy Space Center. The exhibit will be the main attraction and NASA'S 4th space rated orbiter. The exhibit is to inspire and amaze visitor over the next decades. This is what the exhibit is planned to look like. Take a breathe and be prepared to be amazed

Its quite amazing what people come up with and how smart people are.

Antelope Takes Out Cyclist by Meera Dolasia 10/31/11

17 year old biker Evan Van De Spuy was speeding across the dust terrain close to Pietermartizburg, South Africa when a Red Hartebeest Antelope suddenly hit him. Evan was dazed and didn't know what hit him neither did the antelope but Travis Walker witnessed the terrifying scene, luckily he had a camera sitting on his handle bars.

Evan along with the Antelope got up dazed but not permanently damaged. The Red Hartebeest antelope are the largest species of antelope that can weigh up to 330lb and run up to speeds of 30 miles per hour. They have a fantastic smell and hearing but very poor eyesight a sure reason for the collision.

The Pig Gymnast By Meera Dolasia

With a positive attitude you can do anything! A pig born earlier this year in China's Anhul Province has this same attitude, she was born with no hind legs which could have led her to a boring life of suffering. Her kind owner, farmer Ge Xingping hand fed her for the first few weeks and then later taught her to walk on her front legs like a gymnast giving her the title "Pig Gymnast". He simply took the time to help her to lift her self up ad then making her walk on her 2 feet, the little time that he took saved her. I think Ge Xingping is a great man that really knows how to care for his animals. The news of this amazing pig really astonished me, I never thought it could be, next thing you know spider pig is going to show up.

A similar condition happened to a child when he was born, he had the same attitude to keep living life. Here he is...

Animal Predatory

The video that I have chosen takes place in the Kruger park in South Africa. Take a look for yourself!

The predator in this video are the lions and the prey are the buffaloes. At the start you can see that the lions are trying to camoflauge/ Hide in the grass until the buffalo get close enough or spot them. The case in the video is that the buffalos spotted them and started to run.

The baby buffalo was caught because it was a slower prey compared to adults therefore the calf is more vulnerable. The buffaloes are the lions food, if there were no buffalo a piece of the food chain would go missing. The lions wouldn't starve because they do hunt other prey such as gazelles, sometimes elephants and even small creature like hogs. 

World Records Day- by Meera Dolasia

 

Thursday November 17 was a day where people try to pull off the most amazing things to try and get their name in that special book. This day is called Guinness World Record Day, this memorable day has been going on for the past 7 years.  These stunts go from the most bizarre to the most heart stopping.

This year stunts ranged from catching arrows blind folded to people fitting into a pair of underpants. The stunt that really was exciting for was the man that caught arrows blind folded. Believe it or not I have caught flying arrows and that was pretty hard, just thinking of being blind folded scares me. Meanwhile a 90 year old yoga teacher was getting her award and in Florida 221 people had the largest hula hoop class.

The grand prize was awarded to stuntman, Denni Dusesterhoeft for the most heart stopping record. He ran 120 meters while being totally on fire. This earned him the “Full Body Burn” award.

I would love to have my name in the Guinness World Record Book but I wouldn’t go to the extent of having myself on fire.
