Goals For 2ND Quarter!

My goals for this quarter is to pick up my grades.

Academic Goal:ALast year I got a 5/7, for me that isn't good enough. I'm going to work extra hard this year, on my labs, tests and just understanding science in general. The reason I want to pick up my grades is to make myself proud but also my parents, and of course if i pick up my grades i get a bonus from my parents.

Personal goal: My goal this quarter is to get lots and lots of orders from people for my bakery. Im going to try and succeed by advertising, marketing and sampling.

So all in all my goals for this quarter are academically improving my grades in science class, by working 10 times harder than before and my personal goal is to upgrade my baking business.

Syrian Strong Man Pulls Train With Pure Muscle Power

A Syrian strong man has done the impossible. Adnan Ismail Al-awad has pulled a 2,500 kilogram train and 800 feet, amazingly he has pulled this massive train with his raw power while what he believes that the train tracks where at their incline!  If the train tracks were at a incline i would think it would be much harder, 4 times harder which would come to a conclusion that he pulled a 100,000 kg train, this didn't happen but never the less still a amazement. This incredible stunt was pulled of at the Kadam train station in Damascus with hundreds of people at the scene with their mouth wide open with amazement, at least that would be my reaction. I think that this was a event that is just amazing, I certainly think it would hurt with all that pressure on your back and shoulders. When i ride home and my pack pack has a few books in it, it already hurts, now multiply the weight of my back pack times 100 or even more and that will be about how much it would hurt. Here is the video I saw. I have to say his yelling is a bit unneeded and well just weird.

Dirt Movie Reflection

Dirt, it’s dirt useless and just gets our shoes and clothes dirty. Its always in the way, well that what some people think. Dirt isn’t just a dirty messy thing, it is a component of life that we need and can’t live without.

To many people dirt is there life. Dirt makes homes for the people in Africa, Potterists need clay they need dirt. Dirt is made of bare rock. Dirt is even better than cement, when we put asphalt on our roads we are covering the rich and beautiful soil. Dirt is a living substance which means it is cruel to hurt it and lock it up under our asphalt. Dirt is very important because
  • It saves peoples lifes in Africa (Food, Homes, money)
  • It provides a suitable home for trees, trees give us oxygen, trees prevent erosion and take in all the bad air chemicals.

Dirt is in danger in many ways. Dirt if not treated well will dry up and eventually all we will be left with is desert, this is called desertification, the process of becoming a desert. when we put dirt in danger we put ourselves in danger. Think of it if the dirt isnt healthy the plants wont grow, if the plants dont grow animals cant eat and we wont have fruit or veggies. If there is no food there is no US!!!! Some people are to dull to notice this simple cycle that they start to cut down trees which causes erosion or they release pesticides into the ground. When the pesticides are released into the ground the small ground water takes the pesticides with it until it meets a stream which eventually meets with a river, then passed on to the ocean/sea and pollutes the water and killed fish. The pesticides are passed on and on and on until the ocean and that when we have a problem.
Also many of the modern day farmers cannot afford the modern day technology and the pesticides that are being forced to the world. If the farmers cannot afford the pesticides and technology their farm will be confiscated by the government. 200000 farmers cant afford these payments in India and commit suicide by drink the pesticides or hanging them selves.

Some interesting facts that i learned during this movie is
  • Micros provide energy
  • Perrential means a plant that grows yearly
  • Dirt is made up of bare rock
  • Water is a recycle of dinosaur pee
  • Micilyologist studies what makes up dirt
  • Compost is what turns garbage into dirt
  • Sugar in the dirt is given to the plants

Spider Woman Scales 70-feet wall in China!! By Meera Dolasia on 10/15/2011

A amazing woman from China cleared a 70 feet wall in China and has been labeled the Spider Woman! This massive wall is named the Nanjing's Zhonghua Gate. When I first read the title i was just thinking that she was like a Ninja and used rappeling hooks or something but no, hse used her strong bare hands. "Spider Woman" is also known as Ma Jei. You are probobly thinking " why on earth would she risk her life" but it is very simple she justy didn't want to pay the 4.00 fee to get in.

When i first saw this photo I said, "I could do that" but after reading further I read that 5 other people thought exactly like me but ended up in trouble. 2 broke their legs and the others had to be rescued by police. Ma Jai did confess that it wasn't her first time, she had actually had a lot of practice! Ever since she was little, she had never paid the fee!

My group members were Alex Lysicanova and Masha Westerveen. As a group we chose the fungus kingdom as our project. We organized ourselves by what we would do to contribute. Alex and Masha both worked on the power point because it was a large process and i worked on the videos. For the videos of course i needed them because even though we were assigned what to do we still were a group. I thought the videos were very good so I wanted to share the with you. "The Amazing Tale Behind Winters Bionic Tail" By Kavi Dolasia on 10/03/2011

Most things that you de in the movies are fiction. But one specific movie called "Dolphin Tale" has come to life. This movie is about a dolphin that got caught in a crap trap and lost its tail.  The people in this movie  the people of the town didn't believe that the dolphin could live without a tail.

This story has actually happened in real life. One cold morning in December, 2005 a daily rutine for fisher man Jim Savage set out on his boat in Forida to Mosquito Lagoon. The fisher man soon saw a bouy moving awkwardly so curious Jim went over to see. As he got close he started to hear strange whining sounds and that when he saw it, A baby dolphin caught in the crab trap struggling to get out. Jim's natural instinct told him to grab out his knife and immediately start cutting. One the dolphin was free he noticed that the dolphin couldn't swim far. Sadly the ropes on the crab traps were so tight they cut circulation to his tail enabling it to move.

Realizing the dolphin was in distress he called the Hubb-Sea World Research Institute to help get the 3- month old dolphin to shore. Then put her on a ambulance for a 5 hour journey to her new home in The Clearwater Marine Aquarium.  Since this cute little dolphin was found in the freezing water in winter they decided to name  her "Winter".

The aquarium was devastated when they saw that her tale wasn't getting any better. The only way that they could save her was by amputating her tale leaving her only with a stump. Even after the amputation she din't seem to be getting better.  Wniter is a real trooper so she would try and swim instead of laying on the provided mats. She would "swim" by moving from side to side but the experts at the aquarium feared she would damage her spine.

Then a miracle happened, the aquarium received a call from Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics Inc. who offered to manufacture a prosthetic tail for winter. The tail would slip onto her body and cover the stump working as a tail.

The white thing is the prosthetic tail!!

I also highly recommend you to watch "Dolphins tail" It is a very interesting and adventurous movie. Down below is the trailer.

Snappy,the Orange Crocodile 9/6/11 produced

Recently Snappy a 8 foot long salt water crocodile who lives in the Roaming Reptiles facility in Melbourne, Australia was ordinary just like the others a dark green croc. Until one day his owner Tracy Sandstrom was looking upon a orange Snappy, she was horrified and scared that the croc was terribly sick how he had changed from a ordinary green croc to a bright orange croc over night.

Fortunately the croc doesn't have a rare disease at all its just is own crocodile  habits. Apparently the croc stays in a heated tub over night and had been chewing on the pipes and managed to destroy the filter.
The result of this is that his tub filled with red algae and leaves dying him a hilarious bright orange.
Sadly but fortunately experts say that the dye won't last forever, its bright orange color will start to fade. But he did have a nice run being famous.

Here is a short click about this extraordinary croc!!
